Dicks & Janes Podcast #59 - House of Straw

The Scarborough Dude had good intentions but a lousy week. He also thinks about the 3 little pigs.

Music:
The Watch - Matthews Southern Comfort - Matthews Southern Comfort / Second Spring
Behind the Sun - Eric Clapton - Behind the Sun

Hey Dude! You can't have it both ways. You can't call us friends and then say it's not fair to tell us your thoughts. We listen because we care about you and you touch something inside us. So, beat yourself up if you must, but not because of that.
We're going to miss you but you've got more important things to do. Centre yourself, then maybe you and your family can find each other again. If after that, you feel up to it, we'll still be here.

Thanks Graeme. Doesn't look like I'll reach nirvana by the next show, but sure had fun along the way. Having such great listeners along for the ride made it all worthwhile. Already looking forward to restarting, but the time off should do me good. Stay tuned, eh... so good to know you're out there, waiting...

Straw bends in the wind better than bricks do. Sometimes it blows away, but it's always possible to rebuild if need be. After the new place is ready, we'll all come and visit you!

You're going to be alright, SD. You've made it this far! ;) I'll definitely be here too when you start up again.

Gee, Dude, time to park the car and close the garage door. That's right, old timer, time to shuffle your feet and find a nice wooden bench where you can suck on your dentures in peace: "Damn pidgeons"-- *waves cane*. Seriously, if this next podcast is a funeral, I am never listening again ... moot, or otherwise. Dude, I'm expecting a proper wake with all of the tunes that you would like to have played at your real funeral. You had better leave a record of your choices, or Chuck and Jerry will play "Le Freak" by Chique over your mortician-enhanced, waxy smile (don't say you weren't warned -- *waves finger*). Kidding aside, thanks for the great ride. Your podcasts were exactly how I remembered you: open to ideas both concrete and abstract, an appreciation of the happy Zen accident, and a zealous determination to get the most out every moment. They were great podcasts, made more remarkable by the fact that I think you had food or drink in your mouth half of the time.

I found these images on the internet the other day, and I couldn't help but think that this is what the fight is about: Dick and Jane. Thanks for keeping it unique.

Ooops. Here's my stop. Thanks for the lift, man.

Best wishes, and happy birthday!

Well Wizzie, the wallowing's over! I'll be signing off on a happier note - not yet enlightened, but not ready to pack it in just yet. Thanks for all the music you've sent, and the moral support. And if you want to put out a few shows yourself in my place, feel free...

Hi Dude, Paddy in Japan here, been tuned-in since episode one and will really miss the shows while you're taking a break. If you find yourself in Takemi's sometime in the future it's my shout - thanks.

Hey Paddy!! No shit, I was thinking about you today - wondering if I still had you as a listener. You must have read my crazy mixed up mind. I was also thinking about Japan today, and how I miss not being able to go back this year- especially to Takemi's! Robb (aka Singapore Sam, in this same comment section) knows the place well too...

Hi again

I found a link that had me in stitches...footage of Stephen Colbert absolutely SKEWERING Bush, his Stepford wife, Scalia, the Press corps, Karl Rove, Cheney the annual Correspondent's dinner. The look on Bush's face is absolutely priceless, as is the shocked reaction of the crowd as they listened to Colbert fearlessly tear these morons to bits...

Ah Takemi's - one of my all time favourite watering holes, run by the best barkeeper I've ever met. How I miss going there and kibitzing with the likes of Jimmy, Takemi, Scarborough dude and the rest...

Thanks for the link Robb - I've only just started noticing this guy (Stephen Colbert) on TV lately. Hits hard - and connects! Only encouraging part is the fact that he can still do this in America without being thrown into a dungeon. For now anyway.
